The project is funded by the Fondation Franklinia
Fondation Franklinia (www.fondationfranklinia.org) is a private Swiss foundation created in 2005 that supports for nature conservation projects. Its objective is to ensure the conservation of threatened tree species throughout the world and to improve their conservation status.
Since its creation, the foundation has given priority to concrete conservation actions, but also to the establishment and conservation of botanical collections, taxonomic studies, the production of flora, the elaboration of red lists of threatened species, reintroduction programmes and ex situ conservation actions carried out by botanical gardens. It now gives priority to in-situ conservation actions for threatened tree species around the world, i.e. species included in the Critically Endangered (CR), Endangered (EN) and Vulnerable (VU) categories on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (www.iucnredlist.org).
